Childhood Trauma Therapist Near Me
You’ve carried so much for so long. It’s okay to set it down now.
Even if it’s been years since childhood, you might still feel echoes of what you went through — in the way you talk to yourself, how you show up in relationships, or how you shut down when things feel too much.
You might not even call it “trauma.”
You know something doesn’t feel settled inside.
At Sagebrush Counseling, I work with adults across Texas who are ready to explore how early wounds may be shaping their life now and want a safe, steady space to start healing. Together, we use inner child work, psychodynamic therapy, emotionally focused therapy (EFT), and creative expression (if you’re open to it) to help bring you home to yourself.
When the Past Still Feels Present
You might be doing all the “right” things, such as working, caregiving, and showing up for others, and still feel like something’s off.
Maybe you:
Overthink or blame yourself constantly
Struggle with trust or emotional closeness
Shut down when conflict happens, or go into full people-pleasing mode
Feel exhausted by old patterns you can’t seem to break
Have big feelings you don’t always know how to express or name
Carry a sense of shame, anger, or sadness you can’t explain
Feel like part of you never fully got to grow up — or feel safe
These aren’t character flaws. They’re protective strategies that once helped you get through hard things. But now? They might be getting in the way of the life you want.
What Our Work Together Can Look Like
This isn’t about “fixing” you. It’s about gently making space for the parts of you that haven’t had a voice — and learning how to care for them instead of hiding them.
Here’s how I support that:
Inner Child Therapy
We explore the younger parts of you who needed love, safety, or stability and didn’t always get it. You’ll learn to reconnect, listen, and respond to those parts with the care they’ve always deserved.
Psychodynamic Therapy
We look at how your early relationships and experiences shaped how you move through the world today — emotionally, relationally, and internally. This deeper insight can help loosen long-held patterns.
Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)
We focus on how emotions move through you and how they appear in your relationships. If you feel reactive or emotionally distant and don’t know why, this work can help you feel more grounded and connected.
Creative Expression (Optional)
Sometimes what we feel is too big for words. If you're open to it, we can use gentle tools like journaling prompts, imagery, or metaphors to explore what’s under the surface — no artistic skill required.
We’ll move at your pace. You never have to share anything before you're ready.
Who I Work With
I support adults in Texas who are:
Trying to understand where their anxiety, relationship struggles, or emotional shutdowns come from
Healing from childhood neglect, chaos, or abuse
Wanting to speak to themselves with more kindness
Ready to care for the parts of themselves they’ve long avoided
Curious about how their past may be shaping their present — and hopeful about something different
If any of that resonates, you’re not alone and not too far gone to feel better.
