"Affirming therapy is not about being supportive in spite of your identity. It is about doing the work because of who you are, not around it."
What It Is

LGBTQ Affirming Therapy and Counseling

This practice offers individual or couples therapy that is explicitly affirming of LGBTQ identities, relationships, and experiences. You do not have to spend session time explaining or defending who you are or who you love. The work starts from there.

Affirming therapy is not the same as therapy that is merely tolerant. It understands the specific stressors, relational dynamics, and experiences that come with being LGBTQ, and works with those rather than around them.

"You should not have to educate your therapist about your life before the work can begin."

This practice is also affirming of polyamorous and non-monogamous relationships. If that is part of your picture, polyamory therapy is available alongside LGBTQ counseling.

Who It's For

You Might Be in the Right Place If...

01

You are gay, lesbian, bisexual, queer or questioning

Individual therapy for someone navigating identity, relationships, family, and community as a queer person. You do not have to come in with a crisis to benefit from a space that genuinely gets it.

02

You are in an LGBTQ relationship or marriage

Couples therapy for LGBTQ couples navigating communication, conflict, intimacy, family, or simply wanting a therapist who understands your relationship without explanation. Online couples therapy is available.

03

You are navigating a queer relationship and want couples support

Queer relationships carry their own specific dynamics, stressors, and strengths. Couples therapy with a therapist who understands queer relationships means the work can go further without having to explain the context first.

04

You are in a polyamorous or non-monogamous relationship

Relationship structures outside monogamy deserve a therapist who understands them. This practice is polyamory affirming and works with the specific dynamics of non-monogamous relationships. Polyamory therapy is available.

05

You have experienced religious trauma or family rejection

The intersection of queer identity with religion, family of origin, or community rejection carries its own specific weight. Therapy gives you a space to work through that without minimizing what it has cost you.

06

You are neurodivergent and LGBTQ

Neurodivergence and queer identity overlap frequently. Navigating both shapes your experience in specific ways. This practice understands both. Therapy for neurodivergent adults is also available.

What We Work On

LGBTQ Counseling Covers More Than Identity

This practice addresses the full range of what brings people to therapy, with an understanding of what it means to navigate those things as an LGBTQ person.

LGBTQ relationships and couples therapy

Communication, conflict, intimacy, and the dynamics specific to LGBTQ relationships. Online couples therapy is available for LGBTQ couples who want a therapist who understands their relationship without explanation.

Identity, coming out and self-acceptance

Coming out at any stage of life. Navigating identity when it shifts or becomes clearer over time. Building self-acceptance that does not depend on external validation. This work is available at any point in your journey.

Religious trauma and family rejection

Growing up in a religious context that was hostile to your identity. Family of origin rejection, conditional acceptance, or the grief of losing a community. This is some of the most important and underserved territory in LGBTQ therapy.

Minority stress and chronic hypervigilance

The cumulative weight of navigating a world that is not always safe for LGBTQ people. Anxiety and exhaustion from years of reading rooms and managing how you present. Therapy works with the source, not just the symptoms.

Polyamory and non-monogamous relationships

Non-monogamous and polyamorous relationships deserve a therapist who understands them without pathologizing the structure. Polyamory therapy is available for individuals and couples navigating non-monogamy.

LGBTQ and neurodivergent identities

Neurodivergent and LGBTQ identities overlap frequently and shape each other in meaningful ways. Masking, late diagnosis, and identity confusion can all intersect in complex ways therapy needs to account for. Neurodivergent therapy is available.
